Kate, Relational Psychotherapist and co-founder of Togetherly

Kate Shannon

Co-founder of Togetherly · Relational Psychotherapist

I'm Kate, a relationship psychotherapist, and I have always been drawn to relationships. The threads and patterns that run through them, and what we feel before we see it. I'm passionate about allowing and guiding people to see how they shape the story of their own relationships, because that's usually where the freedom is.

That noticing started long before I trained as a therapist. I grew up and worked in my family hospitality business, watching relationships in a completely different context, managing people, seeing connection show up in all kinds of shapes. It taught me how to observe before I ever had the language for it.

I'm endlessly interested in relationships, intrigued by them, passionate about them. It's not because they're easy, or because everyone gets along, that they're joyful. It's the complexity and the dynamics that make them so engaging and diverse. Engaging with relationships, in my work and in my own life, is where I find the most joy.

I'm also a mum of two, on my own personal and couples journey. I'm trying my best to live in a way that keeps me aligned with my values, being a good enough mum and partner. I believe in removing shame and stigma attached to couples therapy and any relationship work. It's a constant, and it will always be evolving, which I'm happy to say, no therapist ever gets it perfect, and I don't intend to.

I work in a neuroaffirming, inclusive way, every culture, every relationship shape, every gender identity. Your story is yours. Where we start doesn't matter to me. What matters is that we shape it in a way that fits you.
